With the lowest unemployment in the USA, North Dakota has enjoyed an economic boom unlike any other in recent memory. The Bakken Formation oil fields last year produced 113 million barrels of oil-moving North Dakota from 9th to 4th in oil production. Where there were once towns floundering, in danger of becoming ghost towns, new building and economic growth has changed the landscape of the prairie.
With the average worker earning $90,000 per year, the sales of trucks, all terrain vehicles and outdoor sporting equipment has also sky rocketed.
What’s the tie in? In 2011 we had a new group from the oil industry enjoy a customized two day hunt at Thunderstik. Sanjel Corporation based in Calgary, Alberta Canada, with offices in Williston and Denver, hosted the trip and by all accounts went home with their limits and enjoyed the hospitality that Thunderstik is famous for.
With an airfield minutes from the lodge, corporate hunting trips like Sanjel's have become a tradition that each participant looks eagerly forward to every fall. This is South Dakota pheasant hunting at its finest!
